![]() If you're interested in a Charvel and can do without the graphic, then the new production models are the way to go. This inspired me to do the same thing with an old Journeyman with a Rising Sun graphic and it came out okay, but not as good as the Model 2 project did. Last year I took my old Model 2 and put a Mighty-Mite strathead neck and OFR on it and replaced the pickup with a JB, and I'm very happy with the outcome. You're much better off buying one on the used market. At $3K+ they are very expensive and will not hold their value because they're simply isn't much demand for guitars with graphics anymore. They are NOT in the same league as Suhr or Anderson, but they are still exceptional superstrats. The custom shop guitars blow away anything I've played from Ibanez or ESP or Schecter (which really doesn't belong in this discussion). ![]() I've also played a bunch of the custom shop guitars at Fullers Vintage Guitars, which keeps several in stock. ![]() ![]() I have a Charvel EVH Art Series and a San Dimas Style 1-2H, as well as a couple of guitars I put together from Charvel parts, including the Model 2 I've had for 23 years that I upgraded last year. ![]()
